Since there are only 10 days until I go back to Kenya I decided it would be a good time to write down a rough travel plan.

Two years ago I promised my students back in Kenya that I’d come back for a visit when I would finish my bachelor degree, and that’s a promise I won’t break.
Since I’ve got 6 weeks between my final exam and my graduation I thought it would just be the perfect time for a little adventure and a visit to my host family and students.
Leaving Iceland
I’ll be traveling from Iceland to Kenya on the april 28th with Lufthansa. The cheapest way possible was to book the trip with two stops each way, one in Munich and the other in Frankfurt. Both stops are very short so there isn’t so much difference time wise, but it made a big difference when on a tight budget.
I won’t be staying in Kenya for long in the beginning cause I plan to travel to Uganda as well. The plan is to leave Kenya shortly after arriving in Nairobi and travel to Uganda with a bus. This travel plan is going to pay off in the long run, since flying to Uganda was so much more expensive than to Kenya and flying to and from the same places often has it’s perks.
Uganda
For a long time I’ve wanted to visit Uganda, but after following Kulabako Paul, which is a founder of Our Hearts 4Africans, on Instagram for some time and seeing what he has accomplished got me interested on visiting and joining the volunteer team so I contacted him and decided to stay and volunteer fro two weeks before I head back to Kenya.
I really hope I’ll find a good company to travel with to Uganda because the bus ride from Nairobi to Jinja will be a long one, and a hard one if I don’t find a bus with an air conditioning and good seats. We will also have to cross the boarders where I will test my tourist visa. The last time I went to Kenya I could get a visa at the airport with out any problem and I hope it will be the same at the border back and forth from Kenya to Uganda.
Kenya
After my trip to Uganda I’ll head back to Kenya where I’ll, hopefully, be staying with my host family for up to three weeks. If I’d be so unfortunate to fail on my exam I might have to do some extra travel and find a place where I might be able to retake the exam. If I won’t find a place in Nairobi that my school will approve then I might need to shorten my stay and fly back home early. This is a problem I don’t really like to think too much about since I just plan on acing it in the first try, but I’ll just work on it when the time comes.
If I don’t have to retake the exam, and I won’t start doing some volunteer work at the school, which is probably something I’ll find myself doing, I might be able to travel to travel a bit more around Kenya and maybe even go to Mombasa for a few days.
If everything goes smoothly I’ll have a good time to spend with the family and the students back in Kajiado who I miss so much! I can’t believe it’s been two years since I volunteered there. I’ve thought about them every day since I left, but still it doesn’t feel like it has been so long!
So this is what I’ve planned so far but, as some people might already know, traveling around in Africa doesn’t always go according to plans.
Thanks for reading, you’ll be hearing back from me when I arrive in Kenya!
